Mapping Tutorial : Page 2

Setting up Worldcraft :

In case anyone doesn't know, you can get Worldcraft from your Half-Life CD, but throughout these tutorials, I will be using Valve Hammer - an updated version of Worldcraft.

The first thing to do is get Hammer!  Try www.valve-erc.com/ and look for it there. By the way Valve ERC has a LOAD of tutorials on smaller things such as glass and skies and ladders. Once you got it you have to get it set up for Half-Life. Just load it up and select the options from the tool menu. Set up the configuration for Half-Life as shown in the diagram. That's basically all you need to do. Other tutorials will probably tell you different, but I this is how I do it, and it works!

When you got that working, turn off Hammer! And go to Valve-ERC and get Zoner's Half-Life tools, and then get the Half-Life Compile Controller (HLCC). You don't actually need these, but its what I have found to be THE BEST for mapping, so trust me it is good. What you are getting are programs to substitute the normal map compilers that you get with Valve Hammer (which are CRAPPY to say the least). Then unzip ZHLT into whatever directory you want, and set up the compile controller as in the picture :
